As a toddler, I would beg my mom to read to me.
As a young child, I would read 'all by myself' instead of watching TV
As an older child and a pre-teen, I would expand my library and read for pleasure
As a teenager.....I discovered the internet.
For about three years, I've been reading sporadically if at all, letting what little I do come from the internet or school assignments, or little things to read between classes. I didn't read in my free time, just in the spare seconds between classes. It'd take me months to finish a book, if I ever did finish one. Recently however, my school decided that everyone must have a study hall, so I used that study hall to go to the school's (slightly sub-par) library. The first book I picked up, with the the tell-tale crinkling of library protection and the smell of slightly aged books, welcomed me back. It is my goal to become the book nerd that I once was, to poke and prod that old passion for reading and bring it back.
I plan to track my progress through this blog, through posting short book reviews, requesting books to read, and occasionally posting lame excuses, anything. My hope is that, by the time a year has come and gone, I will have picked reading back up, dusted it off, and bring love back to my neglected bookshelves.
I'm bringin' book nerd back.
